Lough House Hotel Ltd

A small Highland house, with care for every detail. These policies explain how we look after your information and what to expect when using our website.

Who looks after your information

Lough House Hotel Ltd is responsible for the personal information described here. Our postal address is Glen Croich Road, Strathconon, IV24 3BX, Scotland. For privacy enquiries, write to stay@loughhouse.co or to that address.

We handle personal information under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and under the EU GDPR where it applies to our services.

Enquiries and reservations

We collect the name, contact details, dates, party size and message you send us. We use them to answer enquiries and arrange your stay or gathering, taking steps towards a contract at your request under Article 6(1)(b). Required fields are marked; without them we may be unable to respond. Please avoid including sensitive information in an enquiry.

We also keep the information needed for accounting and other legal obligations. Our legitimate interests in protecting our services and preventing abuse support proportionate security checks. We do not use your information for decisions with legal or similarly significant effects based solely on automated processing.

The legal acknowledgement on our enquiry form records the notice shown and your acceptance. It is separate from marketing consent and is not the legal basis for answering your enquiry. Reservations made through our booking service are also covered by the privacy notice presented there.

Your choice about marketing

Marketing consent is optional and unticked by default. Declining it does not prevent you from sending an enquiry. If you opt in, we record the wording shown and your choice. We use that consent to send the news and offers you requested.

You may withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in a message or by writing to stay@loughhouse.co. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing. We retain a minimal suppression record to respect your choice.

Sharing, security and retention

Authorised members of our house team and providers of hosting, enquiry management, email, reservations and payments receive only the information needed for their work. We use appropriate contracts and restrict access. We do not sell personal information. We may share information with authorities where the law requires it or with professional advisers when necessary to protect legal rights.

Where information is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we use applicable adequacy decisions or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards for your data.

We normally keep enquiries for up to 12 months after the last contact. Reservation and financial records are kept for up to six years where needed for accounting, legal obligations or claims. Records needed for an unresolved complaint or legal claim may be kept until it is resolved. We then delete or anonymise information that is no longer needed.

Cookies and your rights

Essential technologies support website operation and security. Where we use optional analytics cookies, their tags wait for your choice in the cookie banner; you can revisit it through cookie settings. External maps, videos and booking services may process information when you use them; their own notices explain this.

Depending on the law and circumstances, you may ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, object to processing based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent. Write to stay@loughhouse.co. We normally respond within one month; complex requests may need an extension, which we will explain. We may ask for proportionate proof of identity.

You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/ or, where applicable, the competent EU supervisory authority. We date changes to this policy and tell you about material changes where required.
